Support groups can help anyone who is in need of emotional support for a particular problem. Support groups are key in helping clients realize that he or she is not alone – that there are other people who are facing the same obstacles. While attending support groups, individuals develop new skills to improve their current lifestyle and learn new ways of dealing with specific problems. In addition, the members of the group find support in each other as well as from theĀ  support group leader and are often motivated to make positive changes in their lives. Support groups help in areas of anger management, substance abuse, trauma, grief and bereavement, and gang affiliation.
